Blue Flag beaches are judged against 29 criteria which include bathing water quality, litter management, provision of environmental information and safety measures. Seaside Award beaches have to meet more than 15 of the criteria.

 Inspectors find school at heart of communityAberdour Primary School has been given good marks in a recent inspection report. HM Inspectorate of Education visited the school in September and met with pupils, staff and parents.

Just across the Firth of Forth from Edinburgh lies the picturesque village of Aberdour, which nestles around Aberdour's two beaches and the natural harbour formed by the Dour Burn (burn - small stream), Aberdour actually means "River Mouth of the Dour".
