For such a small village Aberdour has much to offer, there are the two beaches, one a European Union "Blue Flag Award" winner, Aberdour castle, built in the 13th Century, Saint Fillans, the 12th century village church, hotels, bed and breakfasts, convenience stores, restaurants, gift stores and much more.

A group of local shop owners have got together to produce a leaflet to promote Aberdour as a relaxing alternative place to Christmas shop. There is also the opportunity to win a gift hamper in a Christmas draw. If you haven't received your copy you can download an electronic copy here (PDF).

Cullaloe Wildlife Reserve

On Wednesday 30 August 2006 the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s  Cullaloe Wildlife Reserve near Aberdour was officially opened as a Fife Local Nature Reserve.

Cullaloe Wildlife Reserve near Aberdour is on the grounds of what was once the Burntisland reservoir. Part of the reserve is designated an SSSI (Special Site of Scientific Interest) and supports several local and nationally rare plants.

Silversands Beach Retains Blue Flag Award

ImageSilversands beach scored "excellent quality" for all of the bathing water tests carried out there.
Deputy Environment minister, Rhona Brankin, went paddling at Silversands to announce that all of Scotlands "bathing beaches" had passed the water quality tests for the first time ever.
