Aberdour CastleJust across the Firth of Forth from Edinburgh lies the picturesque village of Aberdour, which nestles around Aberdour's two beaches and the natural harbour formed by the Dour Burn (burn - small stream), Aberdour actually means "River Mouth of the Dour". For such a small village Aberdour has much to offer, there are the two beaches, one a European Union "Blue Flag Award" winner, Aberdour castle, built in the 13th Century, Saint Fillans, the 12th century village church, hotels, bed and breakfasts, convenience stores, restaurants, gift stores and much more.

Image St. Fillan’s and St. Columba’s with Scripture Union Scotland
Monday 11
th to Saturday 16th August 2008


This is an exciting new venture by the Aberdour Churches combining with a Team from Scripture Union Scotland to provide a week of activities in the Church hall for children of primary school age, going into P1 to P7, in the mornings and older ages, S1 to S6, in the evenings.

The morning theme will be Treasure Island, based on Pirate adventures to seek out treasure so come along for fun, games, songs, Bible stories, crafts, challenges and drama starting at 10.30am until 12.30pm.
The evening will be the Fusion Youth Café, a place to hang out and chat with friends, also including Large Screen Playstation, Singstar, Random games and with the chance to discuss and question your life and beliefs. The Fusion Café will run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm throughout the week, apart from Thursday 14th.


Family Quiz Night,
Thursday 14
th August, 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
St. Fillan’s Church Hall.

Teams of any number, within reason, can enter to answer a variety of questions on General Knowledge and Trivia and some selected subjects. Bring along your family and friends and see if you can win the prize for the best all round knowledge in the village.


Aberdour Churches Family Barbeque,
Saturday 16
th August, 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
Silver Sands.

Join us for a friendly community barbeque by Silver Sands beach, with food organised by The Rotary at only £2.00 a head for adults and free for children, please bring your own soft drinks. Just the chance to relax and enjoy a summer evening in good company.

 

The Scripture Union leader will be Phil Wray, Director of Regional Ministries, and he will be accompanied during the week by a team of up to eight assistants from SU, together with helpers from the village, including First Aiders, providing comprehensive support to all events and activities.
